Scope

What should an ecommerce audit include (and what to leave out)

Scope of a serious ecommerce audit: conversion, catalog SEO, speed, trust, tech stack — plus what to leave out so the report ships.

Must-have modules

Conversion UX on home, collection and PDP. Product SEO and schema. Mobile performance. Tech/platform fingerprint. Trust and legal. A global score that renormalizes when an axis is N/A.

Nice-to-have once the baseline exists

Competitor pricing samples, accessibility depth, paid-media landing variants, and full-site expansion crawls. Those are paid-plan or second-pass work, not an excuse to delay the first ranked list.

What a good audit should refuse to fake

Revenue guarantees, a completed checkout without credentials, and “we analyzed 10,000 PDPs” when the sample was 24. Our methodology page states the limits; the public audit template does not invent panel stats.

Deliverable

Interactive report, optional PDF/PPT for agencies, and a public page only if you opt into the gallery. If the deliverable is only a 40-page PDF, teams will not reopen it next sprint.

FAQ

Should it include paid ads?
Only if the landing you crawl is an ads URL. Account-level ROAS is a different product.
Is accessibility in scope?
We score blocking a11y signals. A full RGAA audit is a separate engagement.
