Shopify PDP

Shopify product page audit checklist you can run on a live theme

A Shopify PDP checklist: buy box, variants, media, proof, schema and app clutter — then run a product page audit instead of living in a spreadsheet.

Start on a phone, on a real SKU, with a real variant

Open a best seller, an out-of-stock SKU and a variant-heavy product. Desktop screenshots lie. Shopify themes often look finished on a 1440px canvas and fail when the buy box drops below a 900px gallery.

A product page audit should sample, not crawl 50k handles on pass one. You need enough SKUs to see how the theme treats sold-out, subscriptions and option-heavy catalogs.

Buy box and media

Price, compare-at, unit price, primary CTA and delivery promise should be visible without hunting. Media: first image sharpness, alt text on sampled shots, no autoplay sound, and a gallery that does not trap swipe as navigation.

  • ATC visible in the first mobile viewport
  • Selected variant reflected in URL or at least in the buy box
  • Stock language that is honest (not “selling fast” theatre)
  • Product schema that matches the visible offer, not a leftover app

Proof, policy and apps on the PDP

Reviews belong near the CTA or they are decoration. Returns and shipping should be one tap from the buy box. Count app blocks: if you cannot explain why a block earns its pixels, it is a candidate to remove before you add another CRO app.

This checklist is the map. Paste the URL into Getmoresales to get a ranked plan plus screenshots. The product page audit landing is the commercial tool; this article is the human list.

What this checklist is not

It is not a checkout script, not a Plus checkout redesign, and not a guarantee that “adding urgency” will lift revenue. We refuse fake scarcity as a finding unless the theme already shows it.

FAQ

Do I need Shopify admin for a PDP audit?
No for storefront evidence. Admin helps you map which app owns which block, but the shopper never sees admin.
How many products should I open?
Enough to cover best seller, variant complexity and out-of-stock. A first pass is a sample, not a full catalog crawl.
